Hyundai has re-introduced their bestselling moniker, the Hyundai Santro, in the Indian car market at a price tag beginning from Rs 3.90 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The all-new Hyundai Santro will be offered to Indian customers in five trims, seven colour options and has a company-fitted CNG option as well as an AMT. The all-new budget compact hatchback from Hyundai has already received over 23,000 bookings.
The new Hyundai Santro will be offered in the Dlite trim as the entry-level trim followed by Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta with Asta being the fully-loaded top-spec trim. The Hyundai Santro will be offered with CNG only in the Magna and Sportz trims priced at Rs. 5.24 lakhs and Rs 5.46 lakhs, ex-showroom. The AMT gearbox option is also offered on the Magna and Sportz trims as well and is priced at Rs. 5.19 lakhs and Rs 5.47 lakhs.
The Hyundai Santro ushers in the new Rhythmical Tension design ideology which adapts the hexagonal cascading front grille in the new style. The new design language also adds drama to the profile in a segment that is known to be Spartan in the overall styling department. The interior is also all-new and gets touches of chrome around the beige and black cabin. The top-spec Asta is quite laden for a budget compact hatchback and is the first to offer rear AC vents along with the standard, AC, power windows, electrically adjustable mirrors, height adjustable driver seat amongst other features. it gets the 17.64cm touchscreen display with Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Mirror Link and steering mounted audio controls.Â
In terms of safety, it gets ABS with EBD standard along with driver airbags and rear parking sensors. Under the hood, sits the 1.1-litre petrol engine which can also run on CNG and both fuel options will be offered by the manufacturer. It develops 67bhp of power and 99Nm of torque. Hyundai will also offer their first AMT gearbox on the Santro along with the five-speed manual and it offers 20.3kmpl for both the transmissions. It offers 3 years and 1 lakh kilometres warranty along with road-side assistance.
The new Santro will take on the compact hatchback segment which is currently being dominated by the Tata Tiago, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre along with the Datsun Go and the Redi-Go 1.0-litre.
