Narain Karthikeyan, who is the first Indian to compete in Formula 1 since 2005, will be racing in the first ever Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi on the 30th October.
Narain Karthikeyan has chosen to drive a Jaguar XKR, ahead of his race at the Indian Grand Prix. An avid fan of Jaguar cars and its rich racing heritage, Narain said: "I see Jaguar as having a great Motorsport heritage and its historical success at Le Mans has helped to keep its reputation as one of the best sports car manufacturers. The Jaguar XKR is a great high performance sporting GT and is the ideal car for me to drive ahead of my race at the Indian Grand Prix".
The XKR is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine, whose top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph and Jaguar claims it does 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds. This engine delivers 510bhp of power output with 625Nm of torque.
