Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off its C450 AMG Sport sedan at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. This new car gets all the style of the C-Class and will sit under the famous C63 AMG in the German automaker’s performance hierarchy.
Let’s begin with the most exciting bit which is that the 450 badging comes courtesy of a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 362bhp and 517Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic gearbox and the 4MATIC AWD system which works in a 33:67 ratio. What this kind of power gives you is a 0kmph to 100kmph time of 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
The excitement does not end just there. The C450 has been blessed with the C63’s underpinnings which include front pull rods, adjustable dampers and firmer springs. It rides on 18-inch AMG spec wheels which have been wrapped in 225/45 front tyres and 245/40 rear tyres.
On the visual front, the changes include a revised front bumper, bigger ducts in front, black mirrors, revised grille, chrome exhaust tips and lid and roof spoiler for the sedan and wagon respectively. It gets most of the C63’s interior including the flat bottom wheel, contrast coloured belt and sports seats.
Deliveries for the American and European market are expected to begin in the coming months though no price has been announced for the performance sedan.
