The Maruti Suzuki YL1 seems to have gotten a Bollywood celebrity status even prior to its launch. The inter web has been constantly fed with spy shots of the car which began with what looked like kindergarten sketches of the car that emerged earlier this month. Since then, images of the exterior and the interior of the car have been spotted which has now culminated with the interior pictures of the rear seats.
The new set of spy shots reveal that the car will feature rear AC vents, possibly on the top end, a feature not available on any of its competitors. The interiors reveal that a number of features have been incorporated from its smaller siblings; while the overall design philosophy is based on the Kizashi sedan.
The SX4 replacement is a vital move for the Indo-Japanese automaker. As it stands, the race is clearly won by Hyundai in the segment with its highly successful Verna, and Maruti is desperate on retrieving lost ground on strengthen its presence on the Indian economy car market. The recent launch of the Stingray and the news of a diesel powered Alto along with the new SX4 replacement all seem to be part of the aggressive strategy on that front.
