Some new details of the Mahindra Quanto facelift have emerged. Reports suggest that the Mumbai-based automaker’s sub four-metre MPV which has not seen much success since it was launched will get cosmetic updates as well as a new engine.
The car was never much of a looker and it looks like Mahindra is bent on changing that by giving the Quanto the family face. This is expected to include the Cheetah grille, new headlamps as well as a new bumper which is likely to move it from the utility category to sporty category when it comes to looks.
If we go by what Mahindra has done with many of its vehicles till now then we can be sure that the Quanto facelift’s cabin will get most of its bit and pieces from the many of the current car. [FV1] This also means the feature list is sure to get an upgrade and is likely to include things like touchscreen music system (top-spec only), height adjustment for the driver and possibly second row vents.
This facelifted car will get the mHAWK80 diesel engine which is a three-pot motor producing 84bhp and 230Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a five-speed manual as well as a five-speed AMT. The latter was first shown fitted on a Quanto at the 2014 Auto Expo but instead made its official debut with the TUV300 earlier this year.
It seems like this update for the Quanto maybe the final opportunity for Mahindra to keep producing this car. In its current avatar, the Quanto has not been much a seller and this facelift is likely to be a saving grace. Given that if this does not happen, the Quanto may be discontinued in favour of a newer model.
