New details have emerged on the soon-to-be-launched Datsun redi-Go ahead of its official launch slated to happen at the end of this month. This is the third Datsun vehicle since the brand was relaunched in 2013 and will be the new entry-level vehicle from Nissan’s budget line up.
Firstly, the redi-Go will be offered in five colours- white, silver, grey, red and lime green which is the launch shade of the vehicle. It appears that Datsun is one of the first companies after a long time to offer this colour in the Indian market.
Moving on, it will be offered with the same three-cylinder 800cc petrol engine from the Renault Kwid. It produces 54bhp and 72Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual. The company currently does not have plans for an AMT option but will consider the same if it sees sufficient demand. The car is 3.42 metres long and has a ground clearance of 185mm making it highest in class among its rivals. On the safety front, the redi-GO will be offered with a driver’s side airbag.
It was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in concept form and was then unveiled at a function in Delhi on April 14. The redi-GO is based on the same CMF-A platform as the Renault Kwid. It is being produced at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant in Chennai and is expected to go to various export markets by the end of the year.
