When Nissan re-launched the Datsun brand name earlier this year, it revealed a strategy to launch models specific to each country. This is in a bid to keep production as local as possible and consequently keep costs down as much as possible. It first unveiled the Go hatchback for the Indian market in July and the subsequently unveiled the Go+ MPV for the Indonesian market in September. While much is known about the Go thanks to the fact that it has been spotted testing in India, Datsun Indonesia has now uploaded a brochure of the Go+ MPV.
The GO+ MPV is 3.95 meters long, 1.63 meters wide, 1.48 meters tall and has a wheelbase of 2.45 meters which by the look of it is 100mm less than the new Honda City. It is a seven-seater vehicle with the third row planted behind the rear wheels. The Datsun Go+ will be made available in five colours- reddish gold, solid white, metallic silver, metallic grey and solid black.
The Indonesia spec Go+ is powered by the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol that sits in the Micra. It has been tuned to produce 68bhp and 104Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via five-speed manual gearbox. The India spec car is also expected to get the 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill that powers a variety of Nissan and Renault cars.
It gets the same interiors and feature list as the Datsun Go including the mobile charging unit and music system. However, since the vehicle will be priced relatively low as compared to its rivals, we also expect that Nissan dealers will offer a host of accessories for the MPV and hatchback when it is launched in India.
The Datsun Go+ is expected to be unveiled for India at the 2014 Auto Expo and will join the Go hatchback as the new offerings from the Japanese automaker.
