More details of the new Ferrari Enzo (codenamed F150) have emerged. Like a complicated math equation, the car is made up of entirely improbable numbers and large amounts of Formula 1 technology. A report from Autocar UK says the F150 has been designed using a combination of the track-oriented FXX and Millechili technical concept that was revealed during Ferrari’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
The first and the most important detail is that the hybrid engine (yes, Ferrari has finally jumped on the ‘e’ bandwagon) will be a more developed version of the 731bhp 6.3-litre V12 that currently powers the F12 Berlinetta. The electric motor is expected to produce an additional 100bhp and 200Nm of torque. The centrally mounted engine is also expected to get a dual-clutch gearbox and a low-mounted transmission to improve the handling.
Having a successful F1 team with your road car business means that technology is bound to trickle down really quick. The F150 will get a KERS system which the company claims will knock off 10 per cent from the 0-200kmph time. It is also expected to aid in the power distribution to each of the wheels.
The car has got a new carbon-fibre monocoque which has been fitted with hinged doors. Inside Ferrari has taken the F1 theme further by fitting a custom seat, moulded to owners shape, an ‘all controls on the wheel’ F1 style steering wheel and adjustable pedals.
The car is expected to be launched in the middle of next year and is likely to cost in excess of 800,000 Pounds Sterling (Rs seven Crore before taxes).
