Honda recently launched their first seven-seater MPV, the Mobilio, in the Indian market. The MPV is enjoying a good demand in the country and has contributed to 35 per cent of the manufacturer's sales for August.
Honda sold 5,530 units of the Mobilio last month, out of its overall sales of 16,758 cars in the same month. This in turn also helped the manufacturer to achieve a growth of 88 per cent in domestic sales in August as compared to the sales figures last year for the same period. This also shows that the sales of its main rival, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, were also outnumbered. Maruti Suzuki's combined sales of the Ertiga, Gypsy and Grand Vitara stand at 5,491 units.
The Honda Mobilio was launched on July 23 in India and ever since then it has created a huge excitement in the Indian market. The new MPV offers a stylish and powerful package at an aggressive price. It is available in three trims in both diesel and petrol. Till now, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was the only long time frontrunner of the MPV segment, until recently, when the Honda Mobilio became a real threat in terms of sales to the manufacturer.
