Now Mitsubishi isn’t an unknown brand when it comes to SUV-inspired MPV’s. The Delica for years has been an extremely capable MPV that can seat people in comfort and at the same time take them to places where most mini-vans would break and die. And now they are all ready to bring out their next generation MPV as the star of its line-up at the 25th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from August 10 through August 20.
The new MPV will seat up to seven occupants offering class-topping roominess and utility through its highly variable interior, with easy access to comfortable third-row seats, along with a spacious luggage compartment. Mitsubishi says that the MPV will be powered by a 1.5L engine with either a manual or automatic transmission and will be a capable vehicle on and off the road.
India is a big market for MPV’s and combining the traits of an SUV seems like a good formula for success in the Indian market, a trend that the Tata Hexa has started. Will Mitsubishi consider it for India? We sure hope so.
