Mitsubishi in Indonesia has planned to cease imports of the new Pajero Sport, from Thailand, early next year and make the car locally.
Sources have revealed that production for this vehicle will commence from the car maker’s new plant that’s coming up in West Java in Indonesia. Reports also state that Mitsubishi expects to begin production of the new Pajero Sport from April 2017. Imam Choeru Cahya, Head of Sales, said, “The existence of the new plant will mean that the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will no longer be imported from Thailand. The Pajero Sport will be the first product to roll out of the new Mitsubishi plant."
Mitsubishi added that the new Indonesian unit will have a production capacity of up to 160,000 units per year, and will also see MPVs like the L300 being built in the future. Once Mitsubishi begins producing the new Pajero Sport in Indonesia, the car maker will be in a position to price it more attractively.
Mitsubishi India is expected to get the new Pajero Sport to our market in the first half of 2017.
