Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has confirmed that they will launch the new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV there in the first quarter of 2016. It has been a while now since the pre-facelift plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the seven-seater SUV was first spotted undergoing tests , however, MMM never introduced it in the market.
With the facelifted Outlander already available in a few markets worldwide, it is just a matter of time that Malaysian customers will finally get their hands on this SUV. Also, MMM has confirmed that its car will be powered by a petrol MIVEC engine instead of the PHEV variant for now. Yang Won-Chul, CEO of MMM said, “We are excited to introduce a seven-seater SUV in the Malaysian market very soon. The Mitsubishi Outlander SUV is MMM’s first model to be introduced with the ‘Dynamic Shield’ concept.” This SUV features the brand’s latest design language, particularly around its front end, which carries twin, horizontal chrome bars flanked by new headlamps, effectively forming what Mitsubishi calls its Dynamic Shield concept design.
MMM has also revealed that its Outlander will be equipped with seven airbags, Active Stability Control (ASC), an electric tailgate, sunroof, LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, 18-inch dual tone alloy wheels and much more. This SUV will most likely be introduced with a 2.4-litre engine that packs 166bhp coupled with 219Nm of torque and mated to a CVT transmission.
