Mitsubishi has relaunched the Montero SUV for the Indian market and has priced it at Rs 67.28 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra). Bookings are now open for the vehicle and it is being brought here via the CBU route.
Externally, the Montero retains its tough old-school SUV design which is dominated by elements like the chrome grille, heavily flared wheel arches, roof rails and spare tyre mounted on the rear door. On the safety front, the Montero gets six dual stage airbags as well as ABS with EBD. There is space for seven people and the third row can be detached to increase space in the boot.
The Montero’s feature list includes touchscreen infotainment system, power front seats, chrome door handles, rain sensing wipers, climate control, daytime LEDs, steering mounted audio and cruise control buttons, sunroof and aluminium pedals.
The engine powering the Montero is a 3.2-litre unit turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine producing 189bhp and 441Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed AT and an AWD system which comes fitted with a two-speed transfer case.
It has been priced at Rs 67.28 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra) and Rs 70.43 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Mitsubishi had stopped selling the Montero in 2014 due to poor demand but have reintroduced the car with added features.
