Mitusbishi has announced an anniversary edition of the Pajero Sport to mark its first year of sales in India. The Pajero Sport is now one of only two models sold by Mitsubishi in India after the Outlander, the Cedia and the Evolution X was recently discontinued.
The anniversary edition comes packed with a touch-screen multimedia system with integrated GPS and a reverse camera, all of which are not included in the standard edition. The exterior also gets new frills that include full body coloured bumpers, mud guards and a special anniversary edition decal.
There are no changes to the underpinnings as the anniversary edition will also be powered by the 2.5-litre diesel engine that makes 178PS and 400Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gear box. What is new though, is a super select 4WD system that allows the user to switch between 2WD and 4WD according to the driving terrain.
The Pajero Sport is assembled at the Hindustan Motors’ Tiruvallur plant near Chennai. Though the price of the anniversary edition is not announced yet, the standard Pajero Sport is currently comes with a price tag of Rs 23,10,550 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the added features will hike the prices considerably. Considering that the car is currently selling just over 100 units a month, the anniversary edition seems to a strange last ditch effort to improve the sales figures for the brand.
