Premium German car manufacturer BMW steals limelight at the Auto Expo with a slew of new car launches and unveilings. BMW Group India owned MINI thrilled the attendees with the unveiling of the second generation Countryman. Interestingly, the Countryman will be entirely manufactured at the company’s facility in Chennai. The vehicle will be offered in three variants - MINI Countryman Cooper S and MINI Countryman Cooper S JCW Inspired and one diesel variant - MINI Countryman Cooper SD.
Alongside the Countryman, MINI also showcased the MINI Convertible and MINI Clubman at the recently concluded event. Both the cars have received fresh facelift along with new transmission and technology ahead of its launch later this year. The vehicle gets exterior visual changes where the most notable change comes in form of new LED tail-lamps. The vehicles also gets LED headlights which been fitted alongside a new single-ring daytime running lights. This time around, the vehicle also gets three additional paint options and alloy wheel designs, exterior upgrades are evolutionary.
Inside, the vehicles get 6.5-inch touchscreen with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, it also gets multifunction steering wheel. Under the hood, the new Countryman can be had with either a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with 192bhp of power and 280Nm of torque or a 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with 150bhp of power and 330Nm of torque. Transmission duties, meanwhile, will be handled by a new 8-speed automatic which replaces the old 6-speeder.
