Taking things to a whole new level, Mini has revealed the latest sports machine from its performance division, the John Cooper Works Clubman. Along with sporty cosmetic detailing, the new sports car has been developed and designed to meet high speed performance needs
The 2017 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman is powered by JCW enhanced 2.0-litre turbopetrol engine which puts out 225bhp of power (39bhp over regular Cooper S) and 350Nm of torque, thereby making it the highest torque producing Mini to be rolled out from the company. Mated to a six-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission option, the vehicle sprints from 0-100kmph in just about 6.3 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 238kmph. Additionally, it claims to return a decent fuel efficiency figure of about 14.69kmpl.
To meet high speed performance needs, the Mini John Cooper Works Clubman gets stiffened suspension and the car is now 10mm lower than the regular version. Moreover, it also gets the optional Variable Damper Control which offers three modes – Sport, MID and Green. These modes not just change the suspension behaviour but also adjust the engine characteristic.
As for design, the Mini John Cooper Works Clubman gets aggressively styled bumpers, JCW badging on the grille, fenders and rear door. The sides feature sporty graphics and five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior gets sports seats for the driver and passenger. It is to be seen if the Mini John Cooper Works Clubman will be introduced in India as well. The manual version in UK is priced at £29,345 (Rs 25.5 lakh), while the automatic variant is priced at £30,945 (Rs 26.9 lakh).
