A year after the US premiere of the new Mini, the premium small car maker is all set to make a sporty addition to its model range at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The car in question is the John Cooper Works edition which represents the extreme end of performance motoring from Mini.
The John Cooper Works edition distinguishes itself from the rest of the Mini range with the help of a powerful turbo engine, race-prepped suspension and an aerodynamically optimised exterior design.
The car has been fitted with the most powerful engine in Mini’s history, a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo unit with 231bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Mini claims a zero to 100kmph sprint time of 6.3 seconds and 6.1 seconds for the manual and automatic gearboxes respectively.
Besides this high-performance version, Mini will also showcase the Superleggera Vision concept with classic speedster styling at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show.
