The Mini JCW Cabrio has been spotted undergoing winter testing in Europe. The JCW Cabrio will be a convertible version of the hardtop JCW Mini Cooper that was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January, this year.
The JCW Cabrio will share the podium as the most powerful Mini car along with the hardtop version. The JCW Cabrio gets a sports exhaust, a reworked suspension and some cosmetic upgrades to differentiate it from the standard model. Inside, the JCW Cabrio will get a black trim with Dinamica sports seats, a redesigned steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and ‘John Cooper Works’ sill plates.
The JCW Cabrio will retain the hardtop model’s 2.0-litre TwinPower turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This unit delivers 228bhp and 320Nm of torque through a six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. Despite having such formidable power figures, the JCW Cabrio will return an impressive 21kmpl in a combined cycle.
Mini recently announced that the Cooper S hatchback is going to be launched in India on March 16. While the Cooper S isn’t as powerful as the JCW version, it will still be by far the most powerful hatchback on sale in the Indian market.
