Our sources have got us spy pictures of the upcoming Mini Cooper Cabrio that were spotted testing in Munich, Germany. The test mules had light camouflage on them and had most of the styling elements exposed.
The Cabrio is essentially a three-door Cooper with a soft-top . It will be the fifth model in the company’s portfolio and is expected to arrive by November.
It will be powered by the same powertrains that propel the other three- and five-door Minis. The choices would be a 1.5-litre three-pot petrol engine producing 134bhp/219Nm and a 1.5-litre oil burner producing 114bhp/270Nm. Needless to say there will be a sporty ‘S’ model that will get a more creamier power output using a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine making 189bhp/279Nm. Also there will be a range-topping John Cooper Works model 228bhp/320 Nm.
Surprisingly, Minis, especially the larger Countryman have found more homes than the Cooper models. We can expect Mini to launch the Cabrio by mid-2016.
