Another Mini prototype has been spied testing by our sources and it happens to be the second-gen Clubman. The Clubman was spied with minimal camouflage and it seems like it will also be unveiled alongside the Mini Cooper Cabriolet in November.
The Clubman is a large hatchback built on the UKL front-wheel-drive platform as the Cooper. In the new model the suicide style rear doors will make way for conventionally opening doors, but it will retain its split tailgate.
It will be powered by the same powertrains that propel other Minis. The choices would be a 1.5-litre three-pot petrol engine producing 134bhp/219Nm and a 1.5-litre oil burner producing 114bhp/270Nm. It might also get sportier diesel and petrol variants powered by the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel mills.
We didn’t get the Clubman in India and the chances of it being launched here is highly unlikely. Instead we will get the Countryman here which has sold in decent numbers.
