Mini is all set to unveil the Clubman concept at the Geneva Motor Show scheduled to begin next month. The five-door hatchback will be launched in the global market later this year.
The Clubman Concept has been styled typically in Mini’s conventional design displaying the circular headlamps, a hexagonal radiator grille, a bulging front, side scuttles, the black band, short overhangs and rounded tail lamps. The car measures 4,223 mm in length, 1,844 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, making it 260mm longer and about 170mm wider than its predecessor.
With the help of a longer wheelbase, Mini has made sure they provide more utility space. The interiors reflect the typical MINI shapes and colours. The display area at the centre changes according to the selected content or driving functions. The vehicle boasts of two longitudinal sections of plexiglass running across the entire length of the roof.
A new feature that the Clubman will brag about is the AirBreather at the sides. These elements dubbed as the AirCurtains give the wheel arches an aerodynamically optimized closure. These integrated aerodynamics have been portrayed on this vehicle which can be seen on some of the BMW sports cars. A small spoiler can be seen above the rear windscreen.
BMW group’s front-wheel-drive UKL platform will underpin this car, the same one that was first seen on the 2014 Mini Cooper. This platform has been developed for both three- and four-cylinder engines. This is for the first time the Mini Clubman will get a conventional five-door layout as the current model has a three-door arrangement. Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you more details about the vehicle’s premiere from the Geneva Motor Show.
