Luxury electric MPV
Range of 430km
MG will start its Select premium outlets in India with the Cyberster sports car. The two-door electric vehicle will be unveiled in January 2025 at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo with a price and booking announcement set to follow shortly. The Mifa-9 MPV will then follow this as the second offering from MG.
Showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, the MIFA 9 measures in at over 5.0 meters with three-rows of seating and a plethora of features offered across the table. The list includes electrically operated first and second rows, captain seats for the second row, level-2 ADAS, connected car technology with special functions for the second row, sunroof and power doors.
The powertrain is a 90kWh battery pack mated to an electric motor producing 241bhp/350Nm and powering the front wheels. The drivetrain has multiple drive modes and independent front and rear suspension.
It could be priced close to Rs 70 lakh and is expected to be locally assembled to keep costs down. While the Cyberster will MG’s show-off product, the Mifa is will be one of the more serious contenders in the Select chain’s future journey. With cars like Kia Carnival at one end and Toyota Vellfire, Kia EV9 and Lexus LM at the other end, the Mifa 9 has a nice little niche that can be filled for electric people carriers under a crore. This is a burgeoning segment popular with multi-star hotels and celebrities and should do well going forward.
