Michelin Tyres is rolling out its messages on the benefits of its radial truck tyre technology through an event-on-wheels concept. Known as the Michelin Caravan, the fully-branded Michelin truck will tour the length and breadth of the country, using the power of storytelling and song to share the advantages of Michelin’s truck tyre radial technology.
Michelin, the company that invented the radial tyre in 1946, wants to share the clear benefits of its range of radial truck tyres designed for Indian road conditions. Feedback received from Michelin customers in India confirms that their vehicles need fewer tyre changes, run longer, and uses less fuel. Also, with the monsoon season in full swing in India, having the right tyres play an important role in providing improved grip for better control. These are tangible benefits to the fleet owners, and Michelin’s aim is to ensure this information is clearly communicated to fleet owners and drivers.
Speaking on the occasion, B Kumar, National Sales Manager, Michelin India said, “At Michelin, we are committed to ensuring constant improvement of Indian mobility in the long term. Our objective is to drive and lead ‘Radialisation’ in the Indian Truck and Bus tyre segment. This is important for us as we are convinced that Michelin radial truck tyres deliver fuel efficiency, safety and longevity benefits, thus providing newer and better value products to the Indian consumer and helps driving his costs down.”
Pune, the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra, is placed as one of the most developed city for industrial development. Known for its software industrial presence, the city is also emerging as a major automotive hub of India attracting an investment of around Rs 40,000 crore in the coming years. Home to Tier-I and Tier-II auto component and infrastructure vendors, the auto ancillary and auto component manufacturers will invest around Rs 10,000 crore. With recent developments in the past few years the city is seen as the automotive hub of the country and thus, the need to educate the growing numbers of fleet owners on benefits of radialisation becomes inevitable.
As the country’s road infrastructure progresses, it offers many opportunities for improvements both in the transport of people and goods and in road safety. These improvements would be driven in particular by a market shift towards radial tyres and superior quality tyres such as those manufactured by Michelin.
