Michael Schumacher met with an accident while holidaying in France and is in coma, his condition is very critical; this news was confirmed by the doctors treating him.
The retired seven-time Formula One champion reportedly was skiing in the upmarket Meribel resort with his 14-year-old son when he fell and hit a rock. The mountain police rescued him and gave him first aid. The rescue operations were very prompt and may have saved his life. A helicopter was flown in 10 minutes of the incident and he was airlifted to a local hospital and later shifted to the Greenlobe facility. A special neurosurgeon was rushed in to oversee his treatment.
Christophe Gernigon-Lecomte, the Director of Meribel resort said after the accident Schumacher was conscious and a little agitated indicating he had not received any life-threatening injuries. The injury was not counted critical until he fell into coma and was immediately taken for neurosurgical operation.
Addressing eager fans and media, Schumacher’s spokesperson Sabine Kehm said in a statement, “We ask for understanding that we cannot give out continuous information on his health.”
