- It will be India’s first 50kW fast charger for electric vehicles.
- Fast chargers will be installed at five MG dealerships.
- Other EVs can use the fast charger if they comply with the CCS/CHAdeMO charging standards
MG Motor India has partnered with Fortum Charge & Drive India to set up the country’s first 50kW DC fast-charging stations across India. The fast chargers will be installed at five MG dealerships - Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru – by September 2019 ahead of the launch of MG EZS electric SUV. One such charging station will come at the MG Flagship Experience showroom in Gurugram.
The MG EZS electric SUV is expected to be launched in India towards the end of this year. Fortum, a Finland-based clean energy major, will install 50kW CCS/CHAdeMO DC fast public charging stations for electric vehicles. The public charging stations can be accessed by other EV users if their cars are compatible with the CCS/CHAdeMO charging standards. Users will have to register with Fortum Charge & Drive India through its Mobile App.
The MG EZS is a mid-size electric SUV and will be the second offering from MG in India. It will be manufactured locally at the Halol facility in Gujarat. The EZS uses a 110kW electric motor that churns out 150bhp and 350Nm. The electric powertrain is supplemented by a 45.6kWh battery pack and has a range of around 350 kilometres.
