India’s first internet car is back and if you have been waiting to buy it since the launch in June, now is your opportunity! MG Motor India has re-opened bookings for their internet-enabled Hector SUV for a limited period beginning 29 September. Not wanting to keep prospective entrants for the MG family waiting any longer, they are ramping up to meet the demand. The buyers who booked the model in the initial period, which stands at 15,000 customers, will be given priority over the ones waiting to book now.
New customers can book the MG Hector against an amount of INR 50,000 on the official website of the company or any of its authorised dealerships across the country.
Runaway success
The Hector is MG’s first car for India and has been a runaway success for the historic British automaker. MG Motor India has revealed that the Hector has received over 28,000 bookings in India within the first month of commencing the bookings for the SUV.
As part of the customer satisfaction initiative, MG Motor had also announced the Worth Waiting For programme, where the Hector customers would gain 1,000 points every week until the vehicle is delivered to them. These points can be redeemed to purchase MG’s range of accessories or it can be spent on the prepaid maintenance packages that were announced at the time of launch.
The facts
MG registered a sales of 1508 units in July 2018 and 2,018 units in August 2019. Dubbed as India’s first internet SUV, it offers over 50 internet connectivity features via the iSmart system.
The Hector is available with four engine/gearbox combinations. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor is offered across six-speed manual and DCT transmissions, while the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine can be had with a six-speed manual gearbox. There’s also a 48V mild-hybrid motor that pairs with the 1.5-litre petrol mill and offers an additional 20Nm. It is available with a manual gearbox for now.
