- MG Hector sales cross 1,500 units
- Milestone achieved within a month of its launch
- Carmaker to increase the SUV's production
MG Motors launched the Hector SUV in India on 27 June and have been continuously getting bookings for it. The carmaker also managed to sell 1,508 units of the Hector within a month of its launch.
The MG Hector is offered as petrol, petrol hybrid and diesel models, in four trims and both manual and automatic transmission options. The carmaker says it has received 28,000 bookings and 50 per cent of these are for the petrol automatic variant. However, we are told deliveries of the automatic trims will take more time owing to the time taken for its homologation.
It's surprising how the carmaker has managed to get such an overwhelming response for the new Hector. Especially, when the auto sector is facing a slowdown and the SUV costs between Rs 16-20 lakhs on-road.
In fact, MG Motors released an official announcement recently stating that they have stopped taking bookings for the car. They plan to cater to the existing bookings first and also increase the production of the Hector to 3,000 units per month by next month. This will help them reduce the waiting period and re-open the bookings. This date will be announced soon as the carmaker gears up for four more launches in the coming two years.
