MG Hector - the country’s first internet car, has received its first over-the-air (OTA) software update with new feature updates like Apple CarPlay to enhance the overall user experience with technological enhancements. This over-the-air update for the infotainment system is absolutely free of cost and the Hector customers will receive a notification on their touchscreen display to download the latest software update. The software update will be rolled out in batches.
An embedded sim card enables internet inside the MG HECTOR’s iSMART infotainment system. Just like smartphones, the free software update can be downloaded directly on the infotainment system. Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “As the pioneer of internet cars in India, MG Motor India has been at the forefront of technology leadership in the automotive space. With the first over-the-air update in the Indian automotive industry, we are redefining the in-car experience and will continue to delight customers with more updates in the future.”
Unlike a regular car, the Hector does not need to be driven to an authorised service station for the software update, thereby saving time and efforts of customers. The SUV was launched on 27 June this year and the company claims that the Hector has received more than 36,000 bookings so far.
