MG Motor India has, today, announced that it has registered sales of 2,018 units of the Hector in August 2019. Dubbed as India’s first internet SUV, the Hector has receiver over 28,000 bookings since the company started accepting reservations for the SUV. The company had recorded sales of 1, 508 units of the MG Hector in July 2019.
MG Motor India plans to increase the production of the Hector at its Halol facility to 3,000 units in September. The company also plans to re-open bookings of mid-size SUV later this year. The Hector is available with 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, respectively. The former also gets an optional 48V mild-hybrid system.
Speaking about the sales milestone, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India, said, “We are extremely overwhelmed with the response that the MG HECTOR has received. We remain strongly focused on fulfilling the 28,000 bookings, as part of our commitment to ensure customer satisfaction. The strong momentum for the HECTOR has continued with over 11,000 additional customers registered on our priority waitlist, after bookings were temporarily halted in July this year because of the huge response. We are working closely with our global and local suppliers to increase the HECTOR’s production in a progressive manner.”
