MG Motor India finally took the wraps off the Hector, which has been priced between Rs 12.18-16.88 lakhs (ex-showroom India). Although being a relatively large mid-size SUV, the nearest rival to the MG Hector is the Hyundai Creta. And to compete with the segment leader and other competitors, the Chinese-owned British carmaker is offering a comprehensive after sales package to entice customers towards the Hector.
5-5-5 Aftersales Service Package
MG Hector comes with MG Shield aftersales service package. It includes a standard warranty of five years and unlimited kilometres for private owners, whereas it is capped at 1.5 lakh km for commercial users. The Hector gets five free services and five years/unlimited kilometres roadside assistance (RSA). The RSA also includes 24x7 medical assistance via Pulse Hub service in case of emergencies.
Best-in-segment Cost of Ownership
MG Motor India claims the Hector comes with the best-in-segment cost of ownership. According to MG, the cost of owning a Hector petrol is Rs 0.45 per kilometre, and that for the Hector Diesel is Rs 0.49 per kilometre. The figures mentioned above are calculated for one lakh kilometres of preventive maintenance in Delhi-NCR, and includes the cost of parts, consumables, labour and taxes.
Shield Protect Plans
The Shield Protect Plan includes two maintenance packages – Classic and Premium. Both the packages are available with three or five-year plans across the petrol and diesel engines. For the petrol variant, the Classic three years/30,000 km package costs Rs 8,000 while the five years/50,000 km package costs Rs 13,000. On the other hand, the Premium three years/30,000 km package is priced at Rs 30,000, while the five years/50,000 km package costs Rs 55,000.
Similarly, for the diesel motor, the Classic package for three years/45,000 km costs Rs 15,000 while the five years/75,000 km package costs Rs 28,000. The Premium package for three years/45,000 km is priced at Rs 50,000, while the five years/75,000 km package costs Rs 80,000. MG Motor India is also working on an ‘Elite Package’, which will cover everything from the batteries, tyres and everything in between.
Assured Buy-Back Option
The MG Hector comes with a buy-back option that lets the owner sell the SUV back after three years. The 3-60 buy-back option assures the owner of getting back sixty per cent of the car’s value after owning it for three years.
