After introducing the Gloster Blackstorm late last year, MG has now expanded the Storm family with the introduction of the Snowstorm and the Desertstorm editions. Here is all you need to know about them.
The first and most significant difference between the Gloster Desertstorm and the rest of the Storm editions is the Deep Golden paint. Next up is the black grille complemented by red inserts on the headlamp clusters. There are multiple blacked-out elements all around, including the ORVMs, roof rails, door handles, spoiler, and fender garnish. The wheels get a glossy black finish too, and sitting behind it are the contrasting red brake callipers.
Step inside the Gloster Desertstorm edition and you’ll be greeted by an all-black interior theme. The only other change to the interior is the black steering wheel with white stitching. The Desertstorm can be purchased in six-seat and seven-seat configurations, while the Snowstorm is offered only in the seven-seat layout.
Notable features of the three-row SUV include a panoramic sunroof, Level 1 ADAS, i-Smart connected car technology, 64-colour ambient lighting, cruise control, paddle shifters, powered tailgate, six airbags, TPMS, and more.
MG has kept the mechanicals unchanged, and thus the Gloster continues to source power from a 2.0-litre diesel engine available in turbo and twin-turbo trims, which can be had in the 4x2 and 4x4 versions, respectively. The former develops 159bhp and 373Nm, while the latter is tuned to generate 213bhp and 478Nm. An eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is standard across the variant lineup.
Key rivals to the MG Gloster currently include the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and the Isuzu MU-X. Notably, the company is working on a facelift of the SUV that is expected to arrive later this year.
