A van, and that too a luxury one might fit the needs of only a few buyers in India. Yet, Mercedes-Benz bravely continues to cater to these buyers and has recently launched a new top-spec trim of the V-Class called the Elite. It's priced at Rs 1.1 crore (ex-showroom, India) and is based on the updated V-Class which is sold in international markets. Here's its picture gallery.
Exterior appearance-wise, it's similar to the standard V-Class, but features a new grille, a redesigned bumper and revised headlamps with integrated LED DRLs.
For the Indian market, Mercedes is offering the V-Class Elite in long-wheelbase form and in a six-seat configuration. It's easily the roomiest Mercedes ever.
Get inside the cabin and you will see new air-conditioning vents and a larger touchscreen infotainment head-unit to pamper occupants with all their infotainment needs.
There are captain seats with leg rests in the second row. These seats can recline up to 49 degrees and even have ventilation and massage functions.
Other features include a folding centre table, a two-zone automatic climate control, Burmester audio system, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera and an optional panoramic sunroof.
The V-Class Elite derives power from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel mill producing 161bhp and 380Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
With Mercedes, safety is top-notch and even if this is a van, safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, attention assist and active parking assist are offered as standard on the Elite.
