Mercedes-Benz has commenced its Frankfurt Motor Show campaign with a couple of teasers for a new EQ product. The first teaser showcases the Concept under a veil while the other teaser image is an interior design rendering. We know that this upcoming EQ product will be the EQS.
After the EQC (the electric equivalent of GLC) and EQA (the electric equivalent of A-Class), the new EQS would be an electric equivalent of the S-Class. The flagship EQ product was also spotted testing in Germany a few days ago. The electric sedan is reportedly built from the ground up with a newer platform called the Modular Electric Architecture. This is characterised by generous use of aluminium and will be powered by a dual-motor set-up, one on each axle. Although the exact power figures aren’t available at the moment, we expect it to put out more than the S63 AMG.
As for the interior, the concept will sport a futuristic layout with a large screen wedged into the centre console. And the floating centre console runs through the centre of the car and is flanked by four seats with large, quilted bolstering and chrome piping. Although the production version of the EQS will be toned down, we could expect some elements from the concept to make it to production.
More details of the EQS and other products from the Frankfurt stage will be revealed in the days to come as the German motor show opens its gates on 10 September. Stay tuned to CarWale for more information.
