Luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has reported its highest monthly sales for May with a growth of 2.3 per cent and 1,98,187 units sold. With this, the premium German car manufacturer has achieved its best-ever unit sales for the 63rd month in succession. Also in the month of May, the company saw its best ever sales in the Asia-Pacific region with delivery of 80,000 units, thus registering a growth of 10.2 per cent. Moreover, the company also witnessed its best ever sales numbers among SUVs with sales of 70,000 units – that’s a growth of 4.3 per cent.
The GLC SUV has been a considerable contributor to the overall sales Of Mercedes Benz across global markets last month. Internationally, the E-Class in the Saloon and Estate body style have been popular choices, while India and China show double digit growth of 23.5 per cent for the long-wheelbase version. The S-Class also continues to be a popular seller across all regions in the global market. Unit sales for the S-Class has increased by double-digit percentage in the first five months of the year not only in Europe, but also in the Asia-Pacific region and the NAFTA region.
Speaking on the occasion, Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales, said, “The 63rd record month in succession demonstrates our customers’ trust in first-class products from Mercedes-Benz. This enables us to further expand our strong position in the premium segment. This May, we delivered more than 198,000 vehicles, which is more than in any May before. Our SUVs are particularly popular with our customers. Worldwide, nearly 350,000 units sold since the beginning of the year is an incredible result; never before had we delivered so many SUVs to our customers in the first five months of a year. We are especially looking forward to the launch of the new G-Class. With our offroad icon, we will continue the success story of the SUVs in June.”
