Mercedes-Benz has revealed the open-top version of the S-Class Coupe at the 2016 Auto Expo. This S-Class Cabriolet inherits most of the styling cues from the coupe model and is expected to launch soon in India.
The S-Class Cabriolet is be the latest member from the Stuttgart-based carmaker's line-up and borrows the platform, technology and powertrains from the S-Class coupe. It will feature most of the elements from the coupe, like the crystal-infused LED headlamps and daytime running lights which together create a clear beam. To save weight, the automaker has incorporated a fabric top for the flagship drop-top.
The engine specs for the convertible S500 includes a 4.7-litre bi-turbo V8 mill that churns out 449bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. The convertible gets the full-support AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension featuring infinitely variable damping control as a standard fitment.
With the introduction of this new luxury drop-top vehicle, we will have one more form of the new S-Class. Mercedes-Benz at present has the saloon, the coupe and has also introduced the extended-wheelbase Maybach S 600 and the mammoth Pullman luxury limousine. This cabriolet version of the S-Class will compete with the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, Bentley Continental GTC and Maserati GranTurismo Convertible when launched in our country.
