Ahead of their debut in 2019, Mercedes-Benz has been heavily testing the production version of the EQ C SUV and the GLC F-Cell. These will be the first vehicles to roll off the line once the German automaker begins its alternate fuel vehicle offensive.
The photos show the cars undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden - an altogether common practice done by manufacturers at this time of the year in the regions closer to the artic circle. But adding to the cold weather testing for the engine is also work on the ride and handling which will continue for the rest of the cold season. The automaker has said that the cars will be subject to over 500 tests in addition to some additional ones that will be specific to these vehicles due to the nature of their powertrains. Â
To recap, The EQ C is a new electric SUV that the automaker is developing under its EQ brand and will be launched in 2020. The GLC F-Cell is a GLC but with hydrogen power as well as an electric motor and will be launched in 2019. The former was shown in concept form at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.
