- The G 350d will be the first non-AMG G-Class in India
- To be powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine
Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the G350d variant of the G-Class in India tomorrow. The model will be the first non-AMG G-Class in India. It will also be the first time that the brand introduces a diesel-powered G-Class in the country.
The most significant change to the new Mercedes G 350d compared to the G63 AMG will be the powertrain. The model will feature a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine, similar to the unit on the S-Class that produces 284bhp and 600Nm of torque. Paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission, power is sent to all four wheels. The model can sprint from 0-100kmph in 7.4 seconds.
On the outside, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz G 350d will feature toned-down elements when compared to the full-blown AMG variant. These include a three-slat grille, subtle wheel arches and smaller alloy wheels unlike the 21-inch units on the AMG variant.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz G 350d will come equipped with two large screens, one for the instrument cluster and infotainment system each. The model will miss out on the AMG elements and carbon-fibre inserts, which are expected to be replaced with Artico leather upholstery and open-pore wood. The Mercedes G 350d is expected to be priced under Rs 1.5 crores.
