Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-Benz E63 S, the most powerful version of their executive sedan, the Mercedes E-Class, for a price tag of Rs 1.5 crores. The AMG-powered luxury sedan will join the Mercedes E200, the E220d and the E350d in the Indian car market.
Powered by the same 4.0-litre V8 from the Mercedes-AMG GT R, the E63 S develops 604bhp of power and a whopping 850Nm of torque which is available from just 2500rpm. Mated to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox, the E63 S, is driven by all-four wheels through the advanced 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system which allows the power to be sent to either or both set of wheels.
You will also be able to reminisce the purist rear-wheel drive only days thanks to the Drift mode which can be activated in the Race setting only. With a 0-100kmph dash in just 3.4 seconds, this luxury barge is limited to 250kmph top-speed for safety reasons. On the inside, suede leather upholstery and premium materials make sure that it retains the opulence of the three-pointed stars. The dash gets twin LCD screens, one for the instrument cluster and the other employed for the infotainment system that is paired with the Meriden audio system.
It gets a full-blown AMG kit with a lip-spoiler in the front, a rear diffuser and 19-inch alloy wheels with one of the largest brakes in the business. The pneumatic active suspension adapts to the road surfaces when in Comfort mode and stiffens up as you move towards the sporty driving modes. It gets a web of driving aids like traction control, slide control and the comprehensive electronic stability program to help harness its massive performance.
The E63 S competes with the likes of the BMW M5 and the Audi RS7 in the German category of performance saloons.
