-C200 variant in the Progressive trim level
-1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 48V mild-hybrid system
Mercedes-Benz India has launched a petrol version of the C-Class sedan for the Indian market and has priced it at Rs 43.46 lakh (All-India ex-showroom). It’s available only in the Progressive trim level and the engine in question is a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder motor with a 48V electric motor.
The Progressive trim level sees the petrol powered C-Class get the same features as its diesel powered twin. This includes avant-garde exterior and interior package, LED headlamps, sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, Artico leather upholstery and parking package.
The petrol engine is a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit producing 184bhp. This engine gets a 48V mild-hybrid system or as Mercedes calls it, the EQ boost. Its main purpose is to provide an additional 9bhp and 160Nm of torque as well as provide juice to the battery via regenerative braking. This engine sends power to the rear wheels via 9-speed AT.
The C-Class petrol takes on the likes of petrol powered versions of the BMW 3 Series, Jaguar XE and Audi A4 in the entry-level premium sedan segment of the Indian car market.Â
