What you see here are the first images of the new Mercedes B-Class that will make its way to production. This is in contrary to a few reports made earlier this year by some media agencies who suggested that the brand could stop the B-Class altogether.
Let’s get straight to the point. Although the silhouette has been left unchanged, the earlier exterior lines have been replaced by straighter and edgier ones. Also, thanks to the larger wheels and wider wheel arches, the new B-Class looks sportier and more appealing than the outgoing model.
Despite Mercedes being tight-lipped about the powertrains in the new car, sources claim that the current diesel and petrol motors will soldier-on in a different state of tune. There’s also speculation that the brand new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel may also be fitted in this model. As with the current trend, expect Mercedes-Benz to also eventually offer a plug-in hybrid and a fully-electric version, both of which are reportedly under development.
The interiors of the new B-Class will also be upgraded over the older model. So, expect more comfort features, a modern infotainment system with improved smartphone connectivity functions, and a sat-nav system, to name a few. Sources claim that the updated B-Class is slated to hit the international arena in the second half of 2018. Until then, stay tuned.
