After the launch of the A35 AMG hatchback, Mercedes-Benz has now taken the wraps off the A-Class sedan with the performance trim. Called the A35 AMG sedan, the entry-level AMG sedan might make its way to India as well. Here is a detailed look at it through pictures:
The A35 AMG Sedan is a gorgeous looking thing. Under its low slung nose is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot motor putting out 304bhp.
The AMG-spec 7G dual-clutch transmission sends power to the 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The AMG suspension is also part of the package.
The 0-100kmph time is claimed to be just 4.8 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.
The sedan carries forward all the design highlights from the hot hatch. So there are the aggressive bumpers upfront with larger air dams.
The radiator grille has twin louvres in typical AMG fashion and the car sits on 18-inch (upgradable to 19-inch) light-alloy wheels with a twin-spoke design.
At the rear, the new diffuser on the sculpted bumper adds sportiness. There is the boot lid spoiler as well along with integrated circular exhaust tips on both sides.
The A35 4MATIC sedan comes with the newly developed MBUX multimedia system with Widescreen Cockpit which is now available in all modern Three-Pointed Stars.
The cabin has a new steering wheel which controls most of the car’s functions apart from Artico leather upholstery and other AMG special bits as well.
Under the skin, it has launch control and an electro-mechanical 50:50 torque distribution for the 4Matic system.
There are five drive modes in the AMG Dynamic Select - Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual which can change engine and transmission parameters.
A four-link rear axle is connected rigidly to the body via a subframe thus lending the A35 sedan maximum driving stability and agility.
The optional AMG Ride Control suspension gets adaptive adjustable damping, which allows the driver to switch between different suspension configurations.
The front brakes are fitted with four-piston monoblock fixed callipers and 350mm discs. The rear gets single-piston sliding callipers and 330mm discs.
The A35 AMG 4Matic Sedan will hit the streets later this year. It will be joined by a more powerful 45 AMG trim soon.
It might arrive on our shores as a replacement for the CLA 45 AMG. More details regarding the same will be revealed in the coming months.
