- Will bring undiluted F1 technology on the road
- Debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
Mercedes-AMG’s upcoming supercar will be called the One. The concept was called the Project One and was unveiled at the 217 Frankfurt Motor Show. The name One signifies the highest automotive ambition which is to bring undiluted Formula 1 technology to the road. Customers of the One were recently invited to Germany where they were informed about the specs and the name.
The interesting part about the One is that unlike most manufacturers whose base their engines on F1 cars, the One features an engine that is actually an F1 unit, the 1.6-liter turbocharged V-6 complete with turbo-mounted electric motor which is also used in the Mercedes-AMG's multiple championship-winning F1 cars. Three additional electric motors will feature in the One, with one mounted to the engine and a further two at the front axle to form an all-wheel-drive system. Peak power will be above 1,000bhp.
Deliveries are expected to begin early next year. With Aston Martin Valkyrie and the McLaren Longtail to come in too, the hypercar battle is sure to get interesting.
