-Â Â Mercedes has trademarked the new performance badge for the updated C-Class.
-Â Â It will be positioned between the C43 and C63 AMG.
-Â Â The C53 might use the same hybrid powertrain from the E53 and CLS53.
Mercedes-Benz has registered the new C53 moniker with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This confirms that another variant of the C-Class will arrive with the AMG tuning and will be positioned between the C43 and the insane C63 AMG.
Powertrain for the C53 could be borrowed unchanged from the already available E53 AMG and CLS53 AMG. Both these expensive cars debuted Mercedes-Benz’s new 3.0-litre straight-six single-turbo engine which comes mated to a 48V mild hybrid system. The mild hybrid powertrain produces 435bhp and 520Nm and an identical power output is expected from the new C53.
Apart from the powertrain, the styling of the C53 will also stand between the subtle C43 and the aggressive C63. There will be tweaks to the exhaust system, new alloys and slight changes to the air vents and side-skirts.
The C-Class facelift already made its debut and will be heading to India in October this year. We expect the new C53 to arrive on our shores sometime next year promptly after it makes its global debut. For more information on the new and updated C-Class, stay tuned to CarWale.
