- Mercedes says it is closer to racing, which could mean the Pro is a top-spec race-ready version.
- The GT R Pro will be revealed at the next week’s LA Motor Show.
Mercedes-AMG is planning another iteration of its AMG GT range. Based on the current Beast of Green Hell, the GT R Pro is coming to Los Angeles Motor Show. The new hardcore sports coupe has been teased online and pronounced “closer to motor racing than ever before”. This implies that it would be a hardcore track-ready version of the already maniacal GT R.
There have been no details revealed by the German carmaker at the moment, but the test mule was spotted undergoing gruesome testing at the Nurburgring on many occasions. Based on what we have seen so far, we believe that the GT R will undergo extreme weight saving measures. There will be performance tweaks in terms of aerodynamics and sports exhaust. The single teaser image gives out no additional information except that the GT R Pro uses 12.4 litres per 100 kilometres and gives out 284g of CO2 per kilometre.
The performance upgrades to the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 would mean the power output might cross the 600bhp mark. There would be reduced luxuries on the inside, with performance oriented suspension and brakes to keep a check on the firepower going to the wheels.
More details of the AMG GT R Pro will be revealed on 30 November when the Los Angeles Motor Show opens its gates. Keep watching this space for more.
