-Â The mental Black Series will mark its return with the AMG GT
-Â Expected to punch out around 700 horsepower
Remember the maniacal SLS AMG Black Series? Well, Mercedes-Benz never really brought back that crazy version of any of its AMG cars after that, until now. At this point, we know that the Affalterbach performance division is cooking up a hardcore Black Series with the AMG GT and here we can see the test mule of the same failing to hide its aggressive bits under the camouflage.
Expected to be the most powerful production model from the AMG (excluding the One, of course), the AMG GT Black Series will be crazier than the already potent GT R. In terms of appearance, we can clearly see the front splitter tearing through the camouflage while the bulging hood vents and the massive Panamericana grille are hard to miss. There are canards on either side of the front bumper as well, in a typical Black Series fashion.
Sitting further close to the ground, the AMG GT Black Series takes its humongous rear wing from the GT3 and GT4 race car. Also making its intentions clear are those racecar-like diffusers at the back. Apart from the addition of the said performance bits, there would also be some serious weight-saving measures all around. Other updates might include reworked suspensions, brakes, tyres, wheels and a retuned gearbox along with improved aerodynamics.
Housed under the long bonnet will be the same twin-turbo V8 but we expect the AMG to dial it up to eleven. Some reports also claim that this V8 is an all-new unit with no electrified component. Either way, the Black Series is likely to have a power output of around 700 horsepower. And we are sure that Mercedes is planning to reclaim the crown of Nurburgring lap record from the Aventador SVJ which has similar power output figures.
When it arrives in 2020, the AMG GT Black Series is expected to be sold only in limited numbers. We also hope this could be the last hurrah for the current AMG flagship.
