Mercedes-AMG has revealed the refreshed 2018 model year update of the C43 sedan and estate just a few hours ahead of the Geneva debut. The update adds subtle cosmetic upgrades but there is a power boost of 23bhp to keep things interesting.
The new and updated C43 uses the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 but now gets a larger set of turbochargers. Thus the power increases to 385bhp compared to 362bhp in the earlier car. The torque, however, remains the same at 520Nm available from as low as 2,500 rpm. Despite the increase in power, the performance figures are the same as before. So both the saloon and the station wagon can do a 0-100kmph time of 4.7 seconds and 4.8 seconds respectively while being electronically limited to a top speed of 250kmph.
The cosmetic changes to the new C43 include blink-and-miss updates. The grille gets the AMG style double louvres finished in matte iridium silver. The front bumpers get S63 style air-vents while at the back there are now stylish diffusers flanked by circular exhaust tips. Both the headlights and taillights get a new lighting signature. There are new sporty side skirts and AMG-spec wheels. Also present now is a boot lid spoiler which lends the saloon an aggressive stance. The cabin gets an all-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a larger 10.5-inch infotainment screen atop the centre console. There are swanky materials used all around the cabin as well.
Mercedes hasn’t revealed the prices for the new C43 AMG. The performance sedan along with its estate sibling will arrive at the Geneva Motor Show before hitting the street later this year. Mercedes will surely launch the new C43 in India but that will happen in late 2018 or early 2019.
