- After the A35 hot hatch, the A35 performance sedan will follow suit.
- Will be powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-litre motor as the hatch, producing around 300bhp.
- Expected to be revealed later this year and might make its way to India too.
Mercedes-Benz has been very aggressive with its new and reformed product line-up. We saw the action-packed A35 hot hatch at the 2018 Paris Motor Show way ahead of the fully-blown A45 which is expected to arrive next year. But now, our spy sleuths have spotted the A-Class sedan with 35 AMG treatment just outside the Nurburgring.
Powering the pumped up A-Class sedan will be the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-pot gasoline motor as the hot hatch which will be churning out little over 300bhp. The firepower will be sent to all four wheels through the very same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission seen on the expensive Three-Pointed Stars. The performance sedan will be capable of hitting 100kmph from standstill in just under five seconds.
Appearance wise, the cladded body reveals a similarly aggressive bumper design as the A35 hatch. However, at the rear, the extra cladding could be hiding some sporty bits around the extended boot which are absent in the hatch. We expect a designer rear diffuser along with added vents and a spoiler at the back to enhance the sporty stance of the A35 sedan.
The dual exhaust outlets are seen as well. The striking looking alloy wheels will be carried over in the production model. On the inside, the same cockpit design will be carried over. The only difference will be the rear seats which will now get a boot access. But the narrow hatch door wouldn’t make the A35 sedan the most practical one in the segment.
Mercedes is expected to reveal the all-new A35 AMG sedan sometime later this year. It will hit the streets in 2019 alongside the new crop of Three-Pointed Stars. We expect it to reach Indian shores as well alongside its standard variant.
