Mercedes Benz India will launch the premium SUV, the GLE 450 AMG Coupe on January 12 next year. The GLE Coupe SUV will add to the existing line-up of the GLA, GLE and the GL sports utility vehicles.
The GLE Coupe is a five-seater SUV with a coupe-like sloping roofline, a trend that was set by its rival – the BMW X6. The plush SUV aims at delivering the performance of a coupe combined with the utility of an SUV. The 450 AMG variant houses the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 engine that develops 362hp of power at 5500rpm and 516Nm of torque from 1800rpm. The 9-speed automatic transmission transmits the power to all four wheels to catapult the 2.2-tonne behemoth from zero to 100kmph in 5.6 seconds.
The Mercedes GLE Coupe will get the AMG-style aggressive body kit and may also get the 21-inch AMG alloy wheels. The sportscar style flat bottom steering gets steering mounted controls for music and Bluetooth telephony. The SUV will be replete with features like three-zone climate control, auto-dimming, adjustable and retractable ORVMs, electronically adjustable seats and headrests. It also gets cruise control and rear-view camera with guidance.
The Mercedes GLE Coupe is expected to cost under a crore rupees to start with and will compete with the BMW X6 in India.
