Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch two AMG vehicles tomorrow. The AMG GT R and the AMG GT Roadster will be added to the carmaker's AMG portfolio in the country.
The much-anticipated sportscar is the AMG GT R powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill producing 585bhp and 700Nm of torque. The car rides on 20-inch aluminium wheels and gets a titanium silencer that makes it lighter than the GT S already on sale in India. This GT R does the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.6seconds, and recently became the fastest car to lap the Buddha International Circuit in India.
The AMG GT Roadster also comes with the same engine but is tuned to produce lesser power - 470bhp and 630Nm of torque. Although both the cars will be the range-topping models in India, we have our eyes set on the AMG GT R. It's the first AMG from Mercedes to feature rear wheel steering and is the road-going version of the Nurburgring 24-hour race winning Mercedes GT3.
The launch of these two sportscars will also mark 50 years of AMG. This launch comes exactly a month after Mercedes-Benz India brought the AMG GLC 43 Coupe in the Indian market at Rs 74.80 lakhs. These two sportscars will be priced well above Rs 2 crores (ex-showroom New Delhi). Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring all the updates from the launch event tomorrow.
