Mercedes-AMG had showcased the open top version of their supercar, the AMG GT Roadster, at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year. The two other cars on showcase were the GT C Roadster and the top-spec AMG GT R. Now, Daimler AG has just announced that the three-pointed star has started to accept bookings for the new cars, the deliveries of which will start next year i.e. 2017.
The AMG GT R is the most powerful AMG GT built thanks to the 585 fire-breathing horsepower generated from the 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine. The suspension has been modified and the aerodynamics bettered to extract the most out of the lightweight construction chassis. The new cars get a vertically slatted grille that looks mean and sporty. The new five-spoke devilish alloys look dapper and so do the yellow-painted brake callipers peeking out from behind them.
The AMG GT Roadster gets the same evocative lines of the AMG GT coupe and also the newly developed 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers 476bhp of power. What it doesn’t get is the roof, opening up the skies for an unhindered grand tour experience. The GT C Roadster is everything GT and more horses packed under the hood. The brand new V8 delivers 557bhp of power and 680Nm of torque to the rear wheels.
The AMG GT R is priced at 165,420 EUR tag (approx. Rs 1.2 crore) in Germany. Next in the line, the AMG GT C Roadster carries a 160,650 EUR price tag (approx. Rs 1.16 crore) while the Roadster will set you back by 129,180 EUR (approx. Rs 94 lakh). Indian fanboys of the AMG GT will have to wait for almost a year from now for the new GTs to arrive after the global deliveries start early next year.
